F&F Day 2: THE SOUTHERN RIDGES/ HORTPARK

Posted by bearer.of.light

Day 2 is where we get away from the air-conditioner and step into the sun. Dearest and I took a 9km walk from Mount Faber to Hort Park (next to Kent Ridge Park). It was tiring, yet fun. Most of all, it pays to lose the calories and take in the sights.

We should hike more often. I've attached a sampling of pictures. Once again, you'll need to move that body if you wanna see more.

And yes, everything is free-of-charge.

Here's the itinerary we followed: NParks Website

F&F Day 1: Singapore Garden Festival

Posted by bearer.of.light

This weekend's flora and fauna weekend for dearest and myself. We didn't exactly plan specifically for a "back to nature" weekend, but plans somehow worked themselves out.

So day one's about the Singapore Garden Festival 2008, happening at the Suntec Convention Centre. I haven't been to any such festivals before, so it was a good experience. The displays were anything but conventional and pretty impressive I must say.

Spanning 2 levels (Level 4 and Level 6), the festival venue is rather huge and will possibly take some time to cover if you're a detailed exhibition-goer. The majority of the crowd (when we were there) were senior citizens, foreign tourists and landscape designers (even the designers of the works themselves). I think it's a great place for the young to visit too!

Here's the administration:

Dates: 25th July - 1st August (Try to go earlier, as the flowers may start to wither towards the end of the exhibition - according to dearest).

Time: 10am - 10pm

Venue: Suntec Convention Centre

And here's what everyone's concerned about. Here's what the exhibition will set you back by:

Adult:
Weekday - $6
Weekend - $12
(You'll notice the explicit price difference, so it doesn't take a genius to figure out when are the best days to visit.)

Concession (Child, Students & Senior Citizens):
Weekday - $3
Weekend $5

There are further discounts for passion card/ ntuc union card members, even on concession admission tickets.

Check website for more details: http://www.singaporegardenfestival.com

We took many pictures and here's a sample of what you'll get. I'm not posting everything online for one main reason - so you won't be a cheapskate and "visit" the festival by blog-hopping. You get what I mean. =)

Note: I apologize for the large resolutions. I uploaded the files under the wrong setting and hence the long load time. Will change to 320 x 200 for future posts.
