Movies: The Bank Job

Posted by bearer.of.light

Caught "The Bank Job" with dearest at VivoCity today. Personally, I thought it was a good movie, a re-count of a true event that happened sometime back. Although based on a true story, some critics believe that parts of the film were the director/ production crew's response to the events and not necessarily true, although the promotional and publicity ads claim that the movie contains truths that have never been revealed before.

The movie starts with some background footages (which may be slow-moving at first), but builds up to a reasonably exciting momentum and for such a production, it is commendable that the momentum is actually quite well-sustained throughout the movie. In other words, it keeps you from falling asleep by giving you an appetite to find out what's next. For a "re-count movie" that's almost 2 hours long, I didn't have to look at the time.

The "R21" rating comes from a couple of sexual (not VERY sexual) and violent (again, don't expect SAW scenes) scenes. Also, there are no subtitles and since it's a British production, you might need some time to get used to the accents in the dialogues. But not to worry, this is not much of a problem.

Overall, if you're passion for movies is more than entertainment and you're a fan of current affairs and history, catch this flick. Otherwise, go for something like You Don't Mess With The Zohan.

Rotten Tomatoes rates the movie a score of 78%, with 99/127 positive reviews.
